It will be an early start to the first day of the Champions League for Manchester United, on their trip to the Swiss Young Boys. United have started the season well and should have more than enough to get off to a perfect start to European competition.
Champions League preview
Manchester United are the early leaders in the Premier League, having earned three wins and a draw in their first four matches. Excitement levels were at an all-time high on Saturday when Cristiano Ronaldo made his first outing with the Red Devils since rejoining the Old Trafford club. Not one to freak out from the headlines, the game was all about the legendary star as Ronaldo scored both halves to give United a 2-1 lead against Newcastle. Bruno Fernandes also got in on the action by scoring an impressive third, while Jesse Lingard also opened his account for the new season by calmly scoring third in the second minute of injury time. United looked terrifying in the final third and will be looking for another big win against the Young Boys in their first Champions League game.
It has not been the start to the season that the Swiss champions were hoping for, as the Young Boys have won just two of their first five games. They are already five points behind first in the league, but were able to score a score in their last game as they thrashed FC Zurich 4-0 at home. Christian Fassnacht scored in the first half of injury time, before Michel Aebischer scored a double and then Meschak Elia extended the lead in the 89th minute.
Young Boys vs Manchester United head to head
United have an excellent overall record against Young Boys, winning the previous two games against the Swiss team. The Red Devils have scored four goals in total played in the two games, while the Young Boys have yet to record a goal. The only two meetings between the teams came in the 2018-19 group stage, with United winning 3-0 in Switzerland.
Young Boys vs Manchester United prediction
This shouldn’t be the most difficult encounter for the Red Devils given the good form they have been in at the beginning of this season. United should get the job done and claim a 3-0 success in Switzerland to immediately move to the top of Group F.
