Vertigo acquires Eva Green and Mark Strong’s film ‘Nocebo’ for the UK

Vertigo Releasing has acquired “Nocebo,” starring Eva Green (“Proxima”) and Mark Strong (“Tár”) for the UK and Ireland.

Directed by IFTA-winning filmmaker Lorcan Finnegan (“Vivarium”) and written by Garrett Shanley (“No Name”), the film follows a fashion designer (Green) who suffers from a mysterious illness that baffles her doctors and frustrates her friends. her husband (strong). Help comes in the form of Diana, a Filipina caretaker (Chai Fonacier) who uses traditional folk healing to reveal a horrible truth.

“Nocebo” has had festivals in Sitges and Cork.

The film is an Irish-Philippine co-production and was supported by Screen Ireland and the Philippine Film Development Council. It is produced by Brunella Cocchiglia for Lovely Productions and Emily Leo for Wild Swim Films in co-production with Epicmedia’s Bianca Balbuena and Bradley Liew.

Vertigo Releasing acquired the rights from XYZ Films, who handle international sales and are also executive producers and financiers of the film. Vertigo’s Edward Caffrey and XYZ Films’ Tatyana Joffe brokered the deal. Lorcan Finnegan is represented by the Independent Talent Group and XYZ Films.

Vertigo Releasing will partner with Wildcard Distribution on the Irish release.

“Nocebo” will be released in the US by RLJE Films on November 4. Vertigo Releasing will open the film in the UK and Ireland on December 2. 9.
