Karnataka will have airports in major cities! Karnataka’s state government is planning to establish airports in all major cities in the state, Karnataka’s Minister of Large and Medium Industries Murugesh Nirani said recently. In addition to airports in major cities, the state government also plans to establish permanent heliports at all district headquarters, Nirani said. The land acquisition process will begin soon, according to an IE report. The state minister of Large and Medium Industries also said that expanding national air connectivity is crucial for industrial development, tourism and other sectors in the region.

At the Export Excellence Awards ceremony of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) in Bengaluru, Nirani said that economic activity will increase if regional connectivity and air passenger traffic improve in the state. According to the minister, a dry port will be installed in Hassan district and the Karwar port will be further developed. State exports in all sectors are multiplying, he said. The state of Karnataka has abundant opportunities, skills and ability to excel in the global export market, he added.

According to the state’s Minister of Large and Medium Industries, the state of Karnataka is number one in software exports and contributes 40 percent of the country’s exports. In addition, the southern state is also a leading player in manufacturing and trade exports. The state has left its mark on automobiles, aerospace, clothing, silk, cotton yarns, pharmacy, food products, marine products, minerals, handicrafts, among others, the minister added.

Meanwhile, it was reported that the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, is likely to close its runway daily for nine hours from January 3, 2022 to May 2022. The runway will be closed due to overlay and maintenance work. .
