The Washington Football Team gave New York plenty of chances to win on Thursday, but the Giants insisted on losing in the worst way possible.
It could be argued that neither Washington nor New York were really interested in winning Thursday night.
You can’t argue with this though – the Giants deserve to be criticized for the way they lost to WFT.
New York left points on the table thanks to Darius Slayton’s open knockdown in the end zone and a water penalty that wiped out a Daniel Jones touchdown.
Washington gave them a golden opportunity with a late interception when they were trying to run out of time. The Giants were even closer to victory when the WFT kicker missed a game-winning field goal in the closing seconds.
He had a second chance due to an offside from New York’s special teams unit. You couldn’t write the ineptitude.

It was an NFC East classic in the worst ways.
Both teams deserved to lose.
But the Giants deserved the L.
New York is now 0-2 to start the season. They had some positives to hold onto if they wanted to, but the negatives will become more important.
Confidence in head coach Joe Judge is eroding. Daniel Jones is still a question mark. Saquon Barkley doesn’t look like himself. The defense looked vulnerable for the second week in a row.
Life is tough for the Giants right now and it’s not clear that it’s going to get better.
