New York Mets fans everywhere are beginning to seriously worry about star pitcher Jacob deGrom’s injury.
After his last two starts were delayed due to injury, Jacob deGrom hit the pothole Sunday seeking to silence the opposition. Instead, the worst possible outcome occurred, and deGrom had to leave the action early with an injury.
To make matters worse for the New York Mets, deGrom is heading for an MRI on a new injury, according to captain Luis Rojas. Could a trip to the Wound List be on the way for the superstar pitcher?
The Mets may end up having to put Jacob deGrom on the disabled list
Last week, Degrom’s start was delayed due to a lateral injury. Now, he is dealing with lateral stiffness and will undergo an MRI to determine the severity of that injury. Goodness. Obviously, any injury to a starter is concerning, but we’re talking about deGrom here.
Without a doubt, he is one of the best pitchers in all of the major leagues. On the year, he’s 3-2 with an incredible 0.68 ERA. When the Mets can get him some running support, it feels like the team is ready to win every time deGrom hits the bump.
In Sunday’s matchup with Arizona, deGrom was sailing but felt discomfort going into the sixth inning. You could tell he knew something was going on, and the call was made so he wouldn’t try to push things.
Mets fans will now be waiting patiently to find out how serious this injury is for deGrom. If the baseball gods are listening to the countless flushed people, then you won’t waste any more time and can rock out for your next scheduled outing. Right now, however, it feels very up in the air.
