After spending almost 4 months in the UK, Rishabh Pant tried to sit on her hotel balcony during the mandatory quarantine period to acclimate to the heat of the UAE ahead of the second leg of the 2021 IPL season.
The 23-year-old heartthrob, who will continue to lead Delhi Capitals (DC) despite Shreyas Iyer being fit and available to play, still felt the heat during his first post-quarantine training session.
“It is quite hot here in the UAE. I was trying to sit on the balcony during my quarantine period as much as possible to get used to the conditions,” Pant said in a statement issued by Delhi Capitals.
“It is still quite hot when I participated in my first practice session here. I’m just trying to get used to the conditions now and hopefully I’ll be fully acclimated to the conditions in 2-3 days, “added the destructive hitter,” he added.
Delhi Capitals confirmed on Thursday that Pant will continue to lead the franchise in the United Arab Emirates. The goalie-hitter had taken responsibility after Shreyas Iyer was ruled out for the season due to a shoulder injury. The season was later postponed midway due to the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak in India and that gave Iyer time to recover and be available for the second leg that starts on September 19.
DC are currently at the top of the table and the new captain is targeting the “ultimate goal” to win the coveted trophy.
“Our ultimate goal is to win the trophy, but we are going to focus on our process. Hopefully we can continue to play like we did in the first half of the IPL 2021 season and we can move on and win the IPL trophy. this year, “Pant said.
Delhi Capitals will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22, in their first match at the restart.
