A longtime Nintendo fan decided to make a realistic remake of Super Mario Bros and posted a movie-style trailer on YouTube to document his latest update.
The youtuber who has uploaded his videos to the channel games reimaginedstarted working on the remake about two months ago.
To create the game, they had to learn Unreal Engine 5 with zero game development experience.
Re-Imagined Games uploaded a cinematic trailer for the remake and some gameplay footage earlier this week, which I’ve embedded below.
The person behind Re-Imagined Games is a professional digital artist, and he’s definitely done a brilliant job of making Chris Pratt’s Mario look realistic. But the trailer itself is also excellently done, complete with an Honest Trailers-esque script and a voiceover that sounds suspiciously like Honest Trailers’ Jon Bailey.
Virtually everything in this game has been created from scratch, including the 3D model of Chris Pratt, custom assets with a gritty look for “realism”, as well as a custom character model and animations for Pratt-io’s movements. More details about his learning process can be found in this video from July.
His next update will include Jack Black as Bowser, and after that, a playable Charlie Day as Luigi is planned. I hope you continue to have fun as you learn and add more to the game, as that fact really shows when you watch their videos and watch the progression of the game.
