If you are of a certain age, you may remember the name of Gateway and its computers that were shipped in black and white cow print boxes. Gateway has returned as a line of inexpensive laptops and tablets at Walmart. But you won’t find any of the models on store shelves in their iconic cow packaging; the new Gateway laptops are only available online. This 14-inch Gateway laptop features a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU and 16GB of RAM. You get a 256GB SSD for storage. The storage capacity is average for the price, but the amount of memory is twice what is normally offered. And you get a Full HD screen (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), which is better than the 1,366 x 768 pixel panels found in other budget laptops. There is also a fingerprint reader for easy and secure logins. The green and black models are out of stock, but you can get it at a deep discount in blue or pink.

Walmart

Take the older model, expand the screen from 14.1 to 15.6 inches and get a whopping $ 330 savings. If you’re working or learning from home and traveling less, the extra screen space outweighs the added weight and volume. Discount applies to all four color options.

This 15-inch laptop from Dell is another low-cost option with a spacious 512GB SSD. It has an 11th generation Intel Core i5 chip and 8GB of RAM. The 15.6-inch screen has Full HD resolution.

Lenovo

This mid-range laptop is currently on sale at an affordable price. It features a 15.6-inch Full HD touchscreen with an AMD Ryzen 7 3700U CPU, 12GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The CPU is a generation behind AMD’s current lineup, but it is a member of the leading Ryzen 7 series – it should perform general tasks with its above-average memory allocation.

Plenty of memory and solid-state storage power this 15-inch Lenovo laptop. It’s based on a 10th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU, which is a generation behind Intel’s current crop of chips, but it should provide enough power for general Windows use, especially when paired with 16GB of RAM. You also get a 512GB SSD. The 15.6-inch screen has Full HD resolution and touch compatibility.

M: YES

With a slightly larger screen and a smaller body, Dell’s new XPS 13 continues its steady march towards laptop perfection. This deeply discounted two-in-one convertible lacks Intel’s latest silicon, but it should still be quite powerful with a 10th-gen Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The 13.4-inch touchscreen boasts a sharp resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels.
