Fletcher, who entered the DWCS fight with an 8-0 record in successful stints with promotions like Fury FC and iKon Fighting, made the most of his opportunity with a flying knee that hit Damiani to start the night at UFC Apex.
Fletcher looked like a man possessed during his first experience of fighting at the UFC level and admits he was nervous before the strikes.
“I was honest with myself that this was a great fight,” Fletcher said during his post-fight interview. “I didn’t have to run from being nervous or anything, I had to embrace those feelings and soak in them. I wanted something spectacular to come out of those feelings instead of letting them melt me.”
After the incredible ending, Fletcher learned that he got a UFC contract from UFC president Dana White. The UFC boss was extremely generous, offering contracts to Fletcher and four other fighters to start the 2021 DWCS season.
